What’s happening inside

A waxy white coating called vernix caseosa covers the skin, protecting it from the amniotic fluid. It will wash off (mostly) by birth.

How you might feel

Round-ligament pain and sciatic twinges are common as the uterus grows. Many people notice a darker line down the belly (linea nigra).
