Week 14  ·  Second trimester

Week 14, gently.

Your baby is the size of

a peach

  • 8.7 cm long
  • 43 g

Your baby can make facial expressions now — tiny frowns, squints, grimaces.

“A tiny face, rehearsing expressions no one sees.”

What’s happening inside

Facial muscles are functional enough for expressions. The baby may squint, frown, or grimace. Lanugo — soft fine hair — begins to cover the body.

How you might feel

A round-ligament ache is common as the uterus rises and stretches. A sudden movement can produce a sharp pain that fades quickly — this is usually normal.
